Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
