And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. 50
