The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
