The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He created man. 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
