The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
