Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 who has created you in several stages? 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 He will make you return to it and then take you out of it again. 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
