The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
