He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
