HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
