When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
