The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
