Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
