And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
