The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
