He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyful, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
