The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
