The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
