The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
