Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 and you cannot elude Him on earth, and you will have none to protect you from God [in the life to come,] and none to bring you succour. 31 And among His signs are the ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas: 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 Let those who dispute Our signs know that there is no way of escape for them. 35 So whatsoever things are vouchsafed unto you are but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world, and that which is with Allah, better and more lasting, is for those who believe and in their Lord put their trust. 36 And those who avoid the major sins and indecencies and, when angered, forgive; 37 And those who answer the Call of their Lord [i.e. to believe that He is the only One Lord (Allah), and to worship none but Him Alone], and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them; 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 The retribution of evil is the equal of evil (done); yet those who forgive and rehabilitate will be rewarded by God. Verily He does not like those who do wrong. 40 And whosoever harms after he has been harmed there is no blame upon them. 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 Surely, he who bears patiently and forgives indeed that is true constancy. 43
