The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise, and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your garments do purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
