Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when it departs, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except those of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
