The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
