The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
