۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
